FAQs

If you’re trying to find out more about Prairie Malt products and services, browsing common questions on our FAQs page is a great place to start.

How do I purchase products from Prairie Malt

We store and ship our entire catalog of packaged malts and adjuncts from our own network of 7 warehouses across the United States. We also ship malt in bulk trucks from our cross-continental network of 10 transloads. In certain metropolitan areas we partner with local distributors to make deliveries of bagged malts even faster and more affordable than conventional LTL deliveries. Regardless of your location or needs, we can be sure to deliver. Contact us at sales@prairiemalt.com to learn more.

What is Prairie Malt’s relationship to other malting brands like Belgomalt, Pauls Malt, etc.?

Prairie Malt is a proud member of Boortmalt, one of the world’s largest malting companies, who owns and operates 27 malting plants in 16 countries on 5 continents. Unlike other malt suppliers in North America, who may procure their imported malts from third-parties, Boortmalt’s global footprint allows us to import and distribute a wide selection of malts from overseas from within our own intra-company network. We proudly sells malts from other historic and innovative Boortmalt malthouses around the world, including Pauls Malt from the UK, Salzgitter from Germany, Belgomalt from Belgium, Minch from Ireland, Joe White from Australia and Badass Barley Malt from Croatia and Hungary. With a streamlined supply chain, deep insight into region specific information like the upcoming barley harvest in the UK, or fluctuating ocean freight rates from Europe, we can provide significant value as a result of our scale and footprint. Very often these kinds of advantages provide us with the flexibility to offer high quality import malts at exceptionally competitive prices.

Why is Canadian barley malt preferred by brewers and distillers?

Canada has earned a reputation for producing some of the world’s finest two-row barley, and for good reason. The Prairie provinces typically exhibit ideal growing conditions and offer a plentitude of arable land. Excellent varietal purity is also prevalent in the region, which translates to consistent kernel size optimal for brewing. We’re proud to work with Canadian growers to source and distribute the best barley you can find.
